Translate Words in Ubuntu Unity Lens (12.04/11.10)

By Umair Monday, June 25, 2012

Unity Translator lens is a useful lens that allows users to easily search multiple words at once/expressions, presenting itself as a quick way of translating words directly from the Dash, without further actions, such as opening a separate application or web-browser. You can install Translation lens in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise, Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric.

The handy lens acts as a further improvement of Unity WordReference lens (designed to handle one word per search, being basically a dictionary), adding, along with multiple words, translation flavors, properly implemented as filters, consequently, switching from one filter to another (like for instance, from Spanish to English to Spanish to French) is just 1-click away.

Unity Translator lens features a complete implementation into the Dash, meaning, along with its separate lens view, incorporates a category in the Dash's home view, thus by hitting theMeta/Super/Windows key and typing words in the search area, its appropriate area translates the typed items.
